The correct way to drive off in a car with an automatic transmission:
1. Make sure the shift lever is in Park (P) or Neutral (N).
2. Press the brake pedal.
3. Start the car.
4. Turn on the required direction of movement:
* To move forward, move the lever to the Drive position (D).
* To move backwards, move the lever to the “Reverse” (R) position.
5. Slowly release the brake pedal and at the same time smoothly press the gas pedal.
6. The car will begin to move, gradually increasing speed.
Additional tips:
* Do not engage the gear before the car has stopped. This may damage the transmission.
* Do not press the gas pedal until you release the brake pedal.
* Start moving smoothly, avoiding sudden jerks.
* Do not move away in Reverse (R) gear if the vehicle is in motion. This can cause serious damage to the transmission.
* If the vehicle is slipping, stop and shift into a lower gear (L or S). This will increase torque and overcome resistance.
*On steep slopes, use low gear mode (L or S). This will help keep the vehicle under control and prevent the transmission from overheating.
