Instructions:

1. Remove the automatic transmission handle

*Transmission shift knob design may vary depending on Sportage model, so please refer to your vehicle’s owner’s manual or consult a mechanic.

2. Open the leather template

* Measure the dimensions of the automatic transmission handle and make a pattern from leather, ensuring allowance for the seams.
*If you use eco-leather, make sure to cut it according to the grain direction.

3. Apply glue (optional)

*For added adhesion, you can apply a thin layer of leather glue to the underside of the leather.

4. Sew the skin

* Using a thick needle and strong threads, sew a piece of leather around the perimeter, leaving a hole for threading a cord or for sewing the automatic transmission handle to the frame.
*Use an overlap stitch or a double needle stitch for strength.

5. Finish the edges of the leather

*After stitching, trim away any excess skin around the edges.
*To prevent edges from fraying, paint them with leather paint or wax.

6. Thread cord or sew to frame (optional)

*If you are using cord, pull it through the hole in the leather and secure it with knots or glue.
* If you are sewing leather to the transmission handle frame, use the same threads that you used for stitching.

7. Reinstall the automatic transmission handle

* Assemble the automatic transmission handle by installing a leather cover on the frame and securing it in the car.
