Tools and materials:
* Wrench set
* Flat blade screwdriver
* Phillips screwdriver
* Hexagon
* Jack
* Car stands
* New engine oil
* New oil filter
* New crankshaft oil seal
* Sealant
Precautions:
* Allow the engine to cool before operating.
* Place the vehicle on a level surface and apply the parking brake.
* Place wheel chocks under the wheels.
Procedure:
1. Drain the engine oil:
* Install the oil pan under the crankcase drain hole.
* Unscrew the drain plug and drain the oil into the pan.
2. Remove attachments:
* Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
* Remove the upper and lower timing covers.
* Remove the crankshaft pulley.
* Remove the drive belts.
3. Remove the old oil seal:
* Using a flathead screwdriver, carefully pry up the edge of the old oil seal.
* Carefully pick up and remove the oil seal.
4. Clean the surface:
* Clean the seat on the crankshaft from old sealant and dirt.
5. Install a new oil seal:
* Apply a thin layer of sealant to the outer edge of the new oil seal.
* Install the new oil seal into place by hand or using a mandrel.
6. Install attachments:
* Install the crankshaft pulley, drive belts and upper and lower timing covers.
7. Replace the oil filter:
* Unscrew the old oil filter using an oil filter wrench.
* Apply a thin layer of engine oil to the O-ring of the new oil filter.
*Tighten the new oil filter by hand and then tighten it 3/4 turn with a wrench.
8. Fill with new oil:
* Fill the engine with new engine oil according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.
9. Check the oil level:
* Remove the oil dipstick, wipe it, insert it again until it stops and pull it out.
* Check the oil level using the marks on the dipstick. Add oil if necessary.
10. Connect the battery:
* Connect the negative terminal of the battery.
11. Start the engine:
* Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes.
* Check for oil leaks around the new oil seal.
Adviсe:
* Use only high quality crankshaft oil seal.
* Clean work surfaces of dirt and oil to ensure a secure connection.
*Tighten the oil filter by hand to avoid over-tightening it.
* Check the oil level 100 km after replacing the oil seal and regularly thereafter.
