Automatic transmission sensors in Volkswagen Golf 3

1. Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)

*Located on the side of the throttle body.

2. Gear selector position sensor (PRNDL)

* Located on the side of the automatic transmission, next to the gear shift cable.

3. Transmission fluid (ATF) temperature sensor

* Screwed into the automatic transmission pan, usually in the front part.

4. Input shaft speed sensor

* Installed at the rear of the automatic transmission, directly behind the torque converter.

5. Output shaft speed sensor

* Installed in front of the automatic transmission, next to the differential.

6. Torque Converter Lockup Solenoid (TCC)

* Located inside the automatic transmission, next to the torque converter.

7. Shift solenoid A

* Located inside the automatic transmission, responsible for switching to 2nd and 4th gears.

8. Shift solenoid B

* Located inside the automatic transmission, responsible for switching to 1st and 3rd gears.

9. Shift Lever Position (NLP) Sensor

* Installed on the gear shift lever inside the cabin.

10. Engine speed relay (RPM)

*Located in the relay mounting block under the hood.
