Filters for automatic transmission Dodge Caravan
Filter types:
* Disposable Oil Pan Filter: Located in the transmission pan, traps large particles and contaminants. Replaced every time the oil pan is removed.
* Permanent or reusable filter housing: Installed inside the transmission housing, traps small particles and contaminants. Does not require replacement, but is cleaned when servicing the transmission.
Frequency of replacing a disposable filter:
* When removing the oil pan for one reason or another
Permanent filter maintenance procedure:
* Drain the transmission fluid.
* Remove the filter housing and clean it of dirt with solvent and compressed air.
* Replace the O-rings and reassemble the filter in reverse order.
*Pour new fluid into the transmission.

* Mopar 68068144AA (disposable oil pan filter)
* Mopar 5182259AA (permanent housing filter)
