Replacing the automatic transmission drive oil seal Toyota Caldina

Required tools and materials:

* New automatic transmission drive oil seals (2 pcs.)
* Transmission fluid ATF
* Rags
* Pliers for removing clamps
* Wrench or ratchet with 14 mm head
* Spudger or flathead screwdriver
* Transmission sealant

Instructions:

1. Lifting and securing the vehicle

* Raise the car using a jack and securely secure it on stands.

2. Disconnecting the driveshaft

* Unscrew the bolts securing the propeller shaft to the automatic transmission drive flange using a wrench or ratchet.
* Disconnect the driveshaft from the drive.

3. Removing the automatic transmission drive

* Unscrew the bolts securing the drive to the wheel hub using a wrench or ratchet.
* Pull the drive out of the hub.

4. Removing the old oil seal

* Pry up the edge of the old oil seal with a pry bar or flat head screwdriver.
* Carefully remove the old oil seal.

5. Installing a new oil seal

* Apply a thin layer of sealant to the outer edge of the new oil seal.
* Insert the new oil seal into the socket.
* Make sure the oil seal is installed correctly and level.

6. Installation of automatic transmission drive

* Insert the drive back into the hub.
* Tighten the drive mounting bolts to the recommended torque.

7. Connecting the cardan shaft

* Align the driveshaft with the automatic transmission drive flange.
* Tighten the driveshaft bolts to the recommended torque.

8. Refilling with transmission fluid

* Locate the transmission filler plug.
*Add ATF to the level indicated on the dipstick.

9. Checking the fluid level

* Check the fluid level by starting the engine and changing gears.
* Make sure the level is between the “cold” and “hot” marks on the dipstick.

10. Reset errors

* Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery for a few minutes.
* Reconnect the terminal and start the engine.
*Check to see if any warning lights on the instrument panel are illuminated.

Adviсe:

* Replace both drive seals each time the drive is removed.
*Use only a high quality ATF transmission fluid recommended for your vehicle.
* Check the transmission fluid level regularly and add fluid if necessary.
