Replacing the automatic transmission drive oil seal on a Nissan Teana

Required tools and materials:

* Set of wrenches and ratchet sockets
* Flat head screwdriver
* Sealant for automatic transmission
* New automatic transmission drive oil seal
* New O-ring (if required)

Instructions:

1. Preparation

* Set the car to the parking brake.
* Remove the front wheel from the oil seal side to be replaced.
* Unscrew the bolts securing the fender liner and remove it.

2. Removing the drive shaft

* Unscrew the bolt securing the drive shaft to the wheel.
* On the inside of the CV joint you will see a ring. Using a flathead screwdriver, bend the tabs and remove the ring.
* Pull the drive shaft out of the wheel hub.
* Remove the drive shaft from the transmission by gently tapping the outer edge of the CV joint.

3. Removing the old oil seal

* Clean the oil seal seat from dirt and dust.
* Pry up the old oil seal with a flathead screwdriver and carefully remove it.

4. Installing a new oil seal

* Apply a small amount of automatic transmission sealant to the oil seal seat.
* Install the new oil seal into place by hand or using a special tool.
* Press the oil seal into place until it stops.

5. Install a new O-ring (if required)

If, when dismantling the drive shaft, the sealing ring at the end of the shaft is damaged or deformed, it must be replaced with a new one. Apply sealant to the new ring and install it on the shaft.

6. Assembly

* Insert the drive shaft back into the gearbox.
* Install the stand ring on the CV joint.
* Insert the drive shaft into the wheel hub and tighten the mounting bolt.
* Install the fender liner and tighten the mounting bolts.
* Install the wheel and tighten the mounting bolts.

7. Checking the fluid level in the automatic transmission

* Start the engine and let it idle.
* Check the fluid level in the automatic transmission and add if necessary.

8. Reset automatic transmission adaptations (recommended)

* After replacing the oil seal, it is recommended to reset the automatic transmission adaptations. This can be done using a diagnostic scan tool or by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes.

* When replacing the automatic transmission drive oil seal, it is recommended to use only original spare parts or high-quality analogues.
* Before performing work, read the operating and maintenance instructions for your vehicle.
