Dismantling the automatic transmission drive oil seal Nissan Maxima

Tools and materials:

* Set of keys
* Flat head screwdriver
* Transmission sealant

Procedure:

1. Loosen the wheel bolts on the drive wheel on the oil seal side.
2. Raise the car on a jack or lift and secure it.
3. Remove the wheel.
4. Unscrew the hub nut and remove it along with the brake disc.
5. Separate the ball joint from the steering knuckle.
6. Remove the drive shaft from the hub.
7. Place a flathead screwdriver between the outer drive flange and the seal and pull out the seal.

Installing a new automatic transmission drive oil seal Nissan Maxima

1. Remove any remaining old sealant from the oil seal seat.
2. Apply a thin layer of sealant to the outer edge of the new oil seal.
3. Insert the new oil seal into the seat. Make sure it sits level and not askew. The sealing lip of the oil seal must be directed toward the inside of the transmission.
4. Align the drive shaft with the hub and push it into place.
5. Tighten the hub nut.
6. Install the brake disc and wheel.
7. Tighten the wheel bolts.
8. Lower the vehicle.
