Replacing the automatic transmission drive oil seal on a Hyundai Getz

Required tools and materials:

* New automatic transmission drive oil seal
* 19 mm head
* 6 mm hex key
* Flat blade screwdriver
* Wire brush
* Brake cleaner
* Sealant for automatic transmission

Replacement steps:

1. Raise and secure the car on jacks. Make sure the car is stable.

2. Remove the front wheel from the leaking oil seal side.

3. Unscrew the bolt securing the automatic transmission drive to the hub.

4. Clean the drive spline and the inside of the hub with a wire brush.

5. Apply brake cleaner to the drive splines and inside the hub. Wipe thoroughly to remove any dirt or oil.

6. Slide the automatic transmission drive away from the hub splines. To do this, use a flat-blade screwdriver or a small pry bar to carefully pry out the drive.

7. Remove the automatic transmission drive from the vehicle.

8. Remove the old drive oil seal from the automatic transmission housing. To do this, pick it up with a flat-blade screwdriver and pull it out.

9. Clean the oil seal seat on the automatic transmission housing and on the oil seal itself. Apply some brake cleaner and wipe dry.

10. Apply a thin layer of automatic transmission sealant to the outer edge of the new oil seal.

11. Insert a new oil seal into the automatic transmission housing. Use a hammer and a mandrel of the appropriate diameter to carefully tap it into place.

12. Install the automatic transmission drive back onto the vehicle. Align the drive splines with the hub splines and push it into place.

13. Screw in and tighten the bolt securing the automatic transmission drive to the hub. Torque to the torque specified in the service manual.

14. Put the wheel back in place.

15. Lower the car.

16. Check the automatic transmission fluid level and add it if necessary.
