Materials:

* New automatic transmission drain plug
* Automatic transmission drain plug gasket (usually supplied with a new plug)
* Wrench or socket of appropriate size (usually 17 or 19 mm)
* Funnel
* Transmission fluid (ATF)

Instructions:

1. Raise the vehicle and place it on stands.
2. Find the automatic transmission drain plug. It is located in the lower part of the automatic transmission housing, usually next to the oil pan.
3. Place a container under the drain plug to catch any leaking liquid.
4. Loosen the drain plug with a wrench or socket. Do not unscrew it completely to avoid losing the gasket.
5. When the liquid stops flowing, completely unscrew the drain plug. Be careful not to drop the gasket.
6. Clean the drain plug and gasket installation area of ​​old fluid and debris.
7. Install a new gasket on the drain plug.
8. Screw the drain plug back into the automatic transmission housing, tightening it by hand.
9. Completely tighten the drain plug using a wrench or socket without over-tightening.
10. Add transmission fluid to the automatic transmission. Use a funnel to avoid spilling.
11. Check the fluid level in the automatic transmission using a dipstick.
12. Lower the vehicle.

Note:

* Before starting work, make sure that the engine and automatic transmission are cold.
*Use the correct transmission fluid for your vehicle make and model.
* Tighten the drain plug to the torque specified in the repair manual.
