Automatic transmission dipstick Subaru Forester SF5

Location:

*Under the hood, next to the engine
* In the right rear corner of the engine, under the air intake

Appearance:

*Yellow or red plastic probe with a ring or loop at the end
* There are two levels marked on the dipstick: “COLD” (cold) and “HOT” (hot)
*On some models there may be only one “HOT” mark

Instructions for checking the oil level:

1. Start the engine and let it idle.
2. Put the car on the parking brake.
3. Remove the dipstick and wipe it with a clean cloth.
4. Insert the dipstick back until it stops.
5. Remove the dipstick again and check the oil level.

Interpretation:

* The oil level should be between the “COLD” and “HOT” marks when the engine is cold.
*The oil level should be at the “HOT” mark when the engine is warm (after driving on the highway for at least 10 minutes).
* If the oil level is below the lower mark, it is necessary to add oil through the automatic transmission oil filling hole.
*If the oil level is above the upper mark, the oil may be too full. Drain a small amount of oil through the automatic transmission pan.

Note:

* Always check the oil level on a level surface.
*Only use transmission fluid recommended by the manufacturer.
* Check the automatic transmission oil level regularly, especially before long trips.
