Chevrolet Aveo automatic transmission cooling system
The Chevrolet Aveo automatic transmission cooling system is designed to maintain the optimal temperature of the transmission fluid and prevent it from overheating.
Automatic transmission cooling system components:
* Water-oil heat exchanger: located in the engine cooling radiator. The heat exchanger transfers heat from the transmission fluid to the engine coolant.
* Heat exchanger tubes: connect the heat exchanger to the automatic transmission.
* Oil pump: pumps transmission fluid through the heat exchanger.
Working principle:
1. The transmission fluid heats up during automatic transmission operation.
2. The oil pump pumps the heated fluid through the heat exchanger.
3. The heat exchanger transfers heat from the transmission fluid to the engine coolant, which is cooled in the main radiator.
4. The cooled transmission fluid returns to the automatic transmission.
Possible faults:
* Clogged heat exchanger: may cause transmission fluid to overheat.
* Oil pump failure: causes insufficient fluid cooling.
* Leaks in heat exchanger tubes: cause loss of transmission fluid and poor cooling.
Service:
* Check the transmission fluid level regularly.
* Replace transmission fluid in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
* Flush the heat exchanger every time you change the fluid.
* If you notice any signs of a problem with the cooling system, contact a qualified mechanic.
Warning:
* Do not remove the heat exchanger cover without proper preparation as this may result in burns from hot liquid.
* Wear protective gloves and goggles when working with transmission fluid.
