Materials:
* Automatic transmission cooling installation kit Aisin 09G
* Fresh transmission fluids and filter
* Tool kit (wrench, wrenches, screwdriver)
* Funnel
* Hose
* Rags
Procedure:
1. Prepare the car:
* Place the car on a flat surface.
* Put the car in park mode and apply the parking brake.
* Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
2. Remove the old heat exchanger:
* Locate the automatic transmission heat exchanger located behind the radiator.
* Loosen and disconnect the ATF coolant lines from the heat exchanger.
*Use a plug or rag to plug the lines to prevent fluid leakage.
* Remove the bolts securing the heat exchanger to the radiator.
* Pull out the old heat exchanger from the radiator.
3. Install a new heat exchanger:
* Clean the radiator gasket surfaces and install a new gasket.
* Place the new heat exchanger on the radiator and secure it with bolts.
* Tighten the bolts to the recommended torque.
* Connect the ATF coolant lines to the heat exchanger. Tighten the connectors to the recommended torque.
4. Install an additional cooler:
* Select a location to install the optional cooler.
* Attach the cooler using the supplied fasteners.
* Connect one hose from the heat exchanger to the cooler inlet.
* Connect another hose from the cooler outlet to the heat exchanger. Tighten the hose clamps.
5. Fill with new transmission fluid:
* Using a funnel, pour the recommended amount of fresh transmission fluid into the automatic transmission.
* Install a new automatic transmission filter, if specified in the installation kit.
6. Start the engine and check the fluid level:
* Connect the negative terminal of the battery.
* Start the engine and let it idle.
* Shift the gear selector through all gears and return to the park position.
* Check the transmission fluid level. Add fluid if necessary.
7. Check for leaks:
* Start the engine and let it run.
* Check all connections for leaks.
* If leaks are found, tighten connections or replace damaged components.
8. Resetting automatic transmission adaptations:
* Some vehicles may require automatic transmission adaptations to be reset after installing a new cooler. Refer to your vehicle’s owner’s manual for specific instructions.
