Automatic transmission control unit Nissan Almera G15
The Transmission Control Unit (TCU) is the electronic component that controls the operation of the automatic transmission. It receives input from various sensors (such as the gearshift position sensor, vehicle speed sensor, and engine speed sensor) and uses this information to control the hydraulic fluid pressure that is supplied to the transmission.
TCU Location
On the Nissan Almera G15, the automatic transmission control unit is located in the engine compartment, under the air filter.
TCU functions
The TCU performs the following functions:
* Torque converter lock-up control
* Gear shift control
* Regulation of fluid pressure in the gearbox
* Providing a mode to protect the gearbox from overheating
* Transmission fault monitoring
Symptoms of a faulty TCU
A faulty TCU can result in the following symptoms:
* Difficulty shifting gears
* Gearbox slipping
*Transmission fluid leak
*Flashing or no gear selector position indication
* Transmission warning light comes on
Diagnosis of TCU faults
An OBD-II diagnostic scanner can be used to diagnose TCU faults. The scanner reads fault codes stored in the TCU memory and provides information about possible faults.
TCU replacement
If the TCU is faulty, it must be replaced. To do this, it is recommended to contact an authorized Nissan service center.
