Changing the oil in the Kia Kyron automatic transmission

Materials:

* Transmission oil ATF SP-III (approx. 6 l)
* Automatic transmission pan gasket
* Automatic transmission filter
* Drain plug sealing washer
* Bath for collecting old oil

Tools:

* Set of keys and screwdrivers
* Lift or pit
* Funnel
* Gloves

The procedure for changing the oil in a Kia Kyron automatic transmission:

1. Lift the car on a lift or drive it into a pit.
2. Remove the engine crankcase protection (if equipped).
3. Place a container under the automatic transmission to collect old oil.
4. Unscrew the drain plug of the automatic transmission pan with a 17 mm wrench. Wait until the oil has drained (about 3 liters).
5. Tighten the drain plug with a new sealing washer.
6. Unscrew the bolts securing the automatic transmission pan and remove it.
7. Remove and replace the automatic transmission filter.
8. Clean the tray and magnets from metal shavings.
9. Install a new automatic transmission pan gasket.
10. Reinstall the automatic transmission pan and tighten the fastening bolts.
11. Fill the automatic transmission with fresh transmission oil through the dipstick hole. Do not overfill the oil!
12. Start the engine and warm up the gearbox to operating temperature.
13. Check the oil level on the dipstick and add if necessary.
14. Reinstall the engine crankcase protection.

Adviсe:

* It is recommended to change the oil every 60,000 km.
* Use only gear oil recommended by the manufacturer.
* If the oil in the automatic transmission has a dark color or a burnt smell, this indicates the need for a complete flush of the gearbox.
