Steps to change the oil in a Toyota Camry automatic transmission:
1. Warm up the car: Warm up the engine and transmission by driving the car for 10-15 minutes. This will thin the oil, making it easier to drain.
2. Raise the vehicle: Raise the vehicle using a lift or jack. Make sure the vehicle is securely secured.
3. Locate the drain hole: Locate the drain plug on the transmission pan. It is usually located at the bottom of the tray.
4. Place a drain pan under the drain plug: Place a drain pan under the drain plug.
5. Drain the old oil: Unscrew the drain plug using a wrench. Be careful as the oil may be hot. Drain the oil until it stops leaking.
6. Replace the drain plug: When the oil is completely drained, install a new drain plug and tighten it with a wrench.
7. Remove Transmission Pan: To access the transmission filter, you must remove the transmission pan. Remove the bolts securing the pan to the transmission.
8. Replace the transmission filter (if necessary): If you are replacing the transmission filter, locate it in the transmission pan and remove it. Install a new filter.
9. Install a new transmission pan gasket (if necessary): If you are replacing the transmission pan gasket, remove the old gasket and install a new one.
10. Install the transmission pan: Reinstall the transmission pan and tighten the bolts you removed earlier.
11. Add New Oil: Using a funnel, pour new oil into the transmission filler hole. Add as much oil as the manufacturer recommends.
12. Check the oil level: After filling the oil, check the oil level using the transmission dipstick. The oil level should be between the “HOT” and “COLD” marks on the dipstick.
13. Reset the oil change counter: If your vehicle is equipped with an oil life monitoring system, reset the counter by following the instructions in your owner’s manual.
14. Lower the vehicle: Lower the vehicle to the ground.
