Changing the oil in an 8-speed automatic transmission Aisin

Tools and materials:

* Automatic transmission oil (check the recommended type for your vehicle)
* Automatic transmission filter
* Automatic transmission pan gasket
* O-rings for filter housing
* Funnel and tube
* Pliers
* Torque wrench
* Socket wrenches or sockets
* Retaining ring remover

Procedure:

Lifting the car

* Raise the car on a lift or using jacks.
* Install supports for safety.

Oil drain

* Locate the transmission pan, usually located at the bottom of the transmission.
* Place the drain pan under the automatic transmission pan.
* Unscrew the drain plug. Drain the old oil into the pan.
* Clean the drain plug and reinstall it with a new gasket.

Removing the automatic transmission pan

* Unscrew the bolts securing the automatic transmission pan.
* Carefully remove the tray. Drain off any remaining oil.
* Clean the tray and magnets from metal particles.

Replacing the automatic transmission filter

* Locate the automatic transmission filter housing, usually located in the pan.
* Use pliers to remove the cotter pin holding the filter housing in place.
* Pull out the filter housing.
*Remove the old filter and replace it with a new one.
* Lubricate the O-rings and reinstall the filter housing.
* Install a new cotter pin.

Installing the automatic transmission pan gasket

* Remove the old automatic transmission pan gasket.
* Apply sealant to the new gasket and install it on the pan.

Automatic transmission pan installation

* Place the pan back on the transmission.
* Tighten the pan mounting bolts using a torque wrench to the specified torque.

Filling with new oil

* Locate the automatic transmission filler hole, usually located on the side of the transmission.
*Use a funnel and tube to pour new oil into the transmission.
* Fill in the specified amount of oil.

Checking the oil level

* Start the engine and allow it to warm up to operating temperature.
* Switch the automatic transmission selector to all positions and return to parking mode.
* Pull out the automatic transmission oil dipstick and check the level. It should be between the “cold” and “hot” marks.

Disconnect the negative battery terminal

* Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery for 10 minutes. This will reset the transmission adaptations.

Battery Installation

* Connect the negative terminal of the battery.

Installation of inspection hatch

* Install a new inspection hatch on the automatic transmission pan.

Removing traces of sealant

* Clean traces of sealant from the gearbox housing and other parts.

Test drive

* Drive the car and check the operation of the automatic transmission.
