Automatic transmission self-diagnosis Subaru Forester SG5

Required tools:

* OBD-II scanner

Steps:

1. Connect the OBD-II scanner to the vehicle diagnostic connector.
2. Turn on the ignition, but do not start the engine.
3. Select the Diagnostics option on the scanner.
4. Find the section related to automatic transmission (for example, “Transmission” or “Auto Transmission”).
5. Select the “Read trouble codes” option.
6. The scanner will display a list of any fault codes detected.
7. Write down the fault codes and refer to the table below to decipher them.

Fault code table:

| P0700 | Malfunction in the transmission control system |
| P0715 | Malfunction in the input shaft speed sensor circuit |
| P0716 | Malfunction in the output shaft speed sensor circuit |
| P0720 | Malfunction in the engine speed sensor circuit |
| P0725 | Malfunction in the throttle position sensor circuit |
| P0730 | Malfunction in the main solenoid pressure sensor circuit |
| P0740 | Malfunction in the torque converter lock-up circuit |
| P0750 | Shift circuit fault A |
| P0753 | Shift Circuit B Malfunction |
| P0758 | Shift circuit fault D |
| P0762 | Shift circuit fault R |

Additionally:

*If no trouble codes are detected, this does not necessarily mean that the automatic transmission is faulty.
* Some automatic transmission problems may not be accompanied by fault codes.
*You may need to contact a mechanic for further diagnosis and troubleshooting.
