A robotic gearbox is an automated manual gearbox that is controlled by an electronic control unit. Unlike classic automatic transmissions, which use a torque converter or variator, in robot boxes the clutch and gear shifting are carried out by electromechanical drives.

Operating principle of the robot gearbox:

1. The electronic control unit receives signals from various sensors (for example, accelerator pedal position sensor, vehicle speed sensor) and makes a decision to change gear.
2. The electric drive depresses the clutch.
3. The second electric drive moves the gearshift fork, which connects the primary and secondary shafts of the transmission.
4. The transition to a new gear is carried out by rotating the secondary shaft.
5. After changing gear, the electric drive releases the clutch.

Advantages of the robot gearbox:

* Higher fuel economy compared to classic automatic transmissions.
* Faster response to pressing the accelerator pedal.
* More sporty driving feeling.

Disadvantages of a robot gearbox:

* Jerks and jolts when changing gears, especially at low speeds.
* Possibility of failure of electromechanical drives.
*Higher maintenance costs.
