Replacing automatic transmission clutches
Tools and materials:
* New set of clutches
* Transmission fluid
* Transmission repair tool kit
* Jack and stands
* Gloves
* Clean rags
Steps:
1. Preparation
* Place the car on stands and drain the transmission fluid.
* Disconnect the battery.
2. Dismantling the transmission
* Remove the bolts securing the transmission to the engine.
* Carefully separate the transmission from the engine and lower it to the floor.
3. Disassembling the transmission
* Remove the transmission pan and drain the remaining transmission fluid.
* Remove all bolts and screws securing the transmission housing.
* Carefully separate the case and remove the internal components.
4. Replacing clutches
* Find and remove old clutches.
* Install new clutches, making sure they are oriented correctly.
* Check the condition of the steel plates and replace them if necessary.
5. Transmission assembly
* Reinstall the transmission housing and tighten all bolts and screws.
* Reinstall the oil pan and tighten the bolts.
6. Transmission installation
* Lift the transmission into place and bolt it to the engine.
* Connect all connectors and hoses.
7. Filling with transmission fluid
* Pour new transmission fluid through the inlet.
* Check the fluid level using the dipstick.
8. Testing
* Connect the battery and start the engine.
* Shift through all gears to check proper operation.
* Check for leaks and make sure the transmission operates smoothly.
