Automatic transmission oil cooler

Purpose:

* Cooling of transmission fluid in an automatic gearbox (automatic transmission).
* Preventing transmission fluid from overheating and damaging the automatic transmission.

Design:

* Consists of a metal housing with tubes through which transmission fluid flows.
* The tubes are surrounded by fins that increase the surface area for heat dissipation.
* Often installed in close proximity to the main engine cooling radiator.

Working principle:

* The transmission fluid is supplied by a pump to the oil cooling radiator.
* The liquid flows through the tubes, being cooled by contact with air passing through the fins.
* The cooled fluid returns to the automatic transmission.

Types of automatic transmission oil coolers:

* Air cooled: Heat is dissipated by air flow.
* Liquid cooled: Heat is transferred to the engine cooling system through a heat exchanger.

Features and Benefits:

* Improves transmission fluid cooling, increasing automatic transmission efficiency.
* Increases the service life of automatic transmissions by preventing overheating.
* Additional cooling allows the use of automatic transmissions with high torque and in difficult operating conditions.

Service:

* Inspect periodically for leaks or blockages.
* Flush or replace the radiator as needed.
*Follow vehicle manufacturer’s maintenance recommendations.
