All-wheel drive Subaru Forester with automatic transmission

Symmetrical AWD all-wheel drive system

* Subaru’s unique all-wheel drive system, which provides constant torque distribution between all four wheels.
* The center differential distributes torque 50:50 between the front and rear axles under normal driving conditions.
* When wheels slip, the system redistributes torque to wheels with better grip, providing traction and control on all types of surfaces.

Automatic transmission

* 6-speed automatic transmission with manual shift option.
* Smooth and responsive gear shifting.
* Various driving modes (Intelligent and Sport) to optimize performance and fuel consumption.

Specifications:

* Permanent all-wheel drive
* Limited slip differential (reserve)
* X-Mode traction control (off-road)
* Hill Descent Control
* Active Torque Vectoring
* Center differential lock (optional)

Advantages:

* Improved traction on all surfaces, including snow, ice and off-road.
* Increased stability and control both on and off the road.
* Confidence and control when driving in a variety of conditions.
* Increased cross-country ability in off-road conditions.

Working principle:

The Subaru Forester all-wheel drive system works as follows:

* Under normal driving conditions, the center differential distributes torque 50:50 between the front and rear axles.
* When wheels slip, sensors detect loss of traction.
* All-wheel drive system automatically distributes torque to the wheels with the best traction through the center differential and the backup differential (if equipped).
* This helps restore traction and prevent loss of control.
* The system also uses electronic traction control to control torque sent to individual wheels to further improve stability and handling.
