Actions to be taken if all the oil leaks out of the automatic transmission while driving:
1. Stop immediately. Continuing to drive without transmission fluid can cause serious damage to the automatic transmission.
2. Switch to parking mode. This will prevent transmission parts from rotating and further oil leakage.
3. Stop the engine. Without lubrication, automatic transmission gears can overheat and jam.
4. Check the oil level. Open the hood and find the automatic transmission dipstick. If the oil level is significantly lower, it may indicate a leak.
5. Find out the cause of the leak. Inspect the transmission pan and connecting hoses for signs of leakage.
6. Add transmission fluid. If the oil level is low but there is no visible leak, add fluid that meets the manufacturer’s recommendations.
7. Call a tow truck. If the leak is severe or you cannot determine the cause, call a tow truck to the repair site.
Possible consequences:
*Irreparable damage to the automatic transmission. Without lubrication, gears and other automatic transmission components will rub against each other, causing overheating and jamming.
* Engine damage. Overloading or jamming of the automatic transmission can lead to engine damage due to torque rollback.
*Destruction of the transmission. Without power transmission fluid, the transmission will not be able to transfer power to the wheels.
Precautions:
* Check the transmission fluid level regularly.
* Carry out a scheduled replacement of the automatic transmission fluid and filter.
* Watch for signs of leaks, such as dripping fluid under the car or a burning oil smell.
