Required tools:
* Wrench set
*WD-40 or similar penetrating lubricant
Instructions:
1. Make sure the vehicle is in park mode (P).
2. Open the hood and locate the transmission cable. It is usually located near the engine and attached to the gear shift lever.
3. Spray penetrating lubricant onto the adjusting nut. Let it work for a few minutes.
4. Find the adjusting nut. This is usually a small nut located on the transmission cable, near where it attaches to the shift lever.
5. Loosen the locknut. Use a wrench to loosen the nut holding the cable in place, but do not remove it completely.
6. Adjust the adjusting nut. Using a wrench, turn the adjusting nut clockwise or counterclockwise to adjust the cable tension.
7. Check the cable tension. After adjustment, check the cable tension by shifting the gear lever through all gears. Gear changes should be smooth and effortless.
8. Tighten the locknut. Once the cable tension is adjusted, tighten the lock nut to lock it in place.
9. Check gear shifting. Start the engine and shift through all gears to ensure that the gear shifts work properly.
Note: If you are unsure of your ability to adjust the transmission cable yourself, consult a qualified mechanic. Incorrect adjustment can cause shifting problems and damage to the transmission.
