Required tools:

* Wrench set
* Screwdriver

Adjustment procedure:

1. Set the gear shift lever to the “P” (park) position.
2. Open the hood and find the automatic transmission selector cable, which connects to the automatic transmission and the gear shift lever.
3. Find the adjusting nut on the cable. Usually it is located next to the automatic transmission pan.
4. Loosen the adjusting nut using a wrench.
5. Move the gear shift lever to the “R” (reverse) position and hold it there.
6. Tighten the adjusting nut until the cable is taut. Make sure the gear shift lever moves easily to the «R» position.
7. Move the gear shift lever to the “N” (neutral) position.
8. Unscrew the adjusting nut 1 turn.
9. Check the movement of the gear shift lever. It should move easily between all positions.
10. If necessary, repeat the adjustment until smooth and precise gear shifting is achieved.
11. Tighten the adjusting nut to the proper torque.

Notes:

* If the cable is too tight, gears may be difficult to shift or may not shift at all.
* If the cable is too loose, the automatic transmission may not shift gears correctly.
*If shifting problems persist after adjustment, the selector cable may need to be replaced.
