Materials:
* 10mm wrench
* Flat blade screwdriver
Steps:
1. Prepare the car:
* Turn off the engine and set the parking brake.
* Open the hood.
2. Find the kickdown cable:
* The kickdown cable connects the accelerator pedal to the gearbox.
* It is usually located to the right of the engine, closer to the firewall.
3. Loosen the locknut:
* Loosen the locknut 10mm, but do not remove it completely.
4. Unscrew the adjusting nut:
*Use a flat blade screwdriver to remove the adjusting nut that is located next to the lock nut.
5. Adjust the free play of the cable:
* Press the accelerator pedal all the way down.
* Pull the kickdown cable forward until you feel a slight pull (free play).
* Lock the cable in this position.
6. Tighten the adjusting nut:
* Tighten the adjusting nut while holding the cable in place.
7. Tighten the locknut:
* Tighten the locknut to lock the adjustment.
8. Check the adjustment:
* Start the engine and move the selector lever to position «D».
* Press the accelerator pedal all the way down.
* The automatic transmission should switch to a lower gear within 0.5-1.5 seconds.
Notes:
* Adjustment that is too tight or too loose can cause shifting problems.
