Adjusting the throttle cable on an automatic transmission
Tools and materials:
* Set of keys
* Flat head screwdriver
Steps:
1. Determine the location of the cable.
* The throttle cable is usually located near the engine and connects to the accelerator pedal.
2. Disconnect the cable from the accelerator pedal.
* Locate the cable attachment point to the accelerator pedal.
* Loosen the fastener and remove it to disconnect the cable.
3. Find the adjusting nut.
*The adjusting nut is usually located at the end of the cable that connects to the throttle valve.
4. Loosen the adjusting nut.
* Using a spanner or wrench, loosen the adjusting nut.
5. Press the accelerator pedal all the way down.
* Press and hold the accelerator pedal fully.
6. Tighten the adjusting nut.
* While keeping the accelerator pedal depressed, tighten the adjusting nut using a spanner or spanner.
7. Release the accelerator pedal.
* Slowly release the accelerator pedal.
8. Check the throttle position.
* Start the engine and inspect the throttle valve with your eyes.
* When the accelerator pedal is released, the throttle valve should be completely closed.
9. Adjust free play.
* Loosen the cable connection that you disconnected in step 2.
* Give the cable about 1-2 mm of free play.
* Tighten the fastener.
10. Check the operation of the accelerator.
* Press and release the accelerator pedal several times.
* Make sure the accelerator pedal and throttle respond smoothly.
Adviсe:
*If you have difficulty adjusting the throttle cable, consult a qualified mechanic for assistance.
*Proper throttle cable adjustment is critical to optimal automatic transmission performance.
* An incorrectly adjusted throttle cable can cause shifting problems and poor performance.
