Adjusting the automatic transmission cable on Toyota Probox

Tools:

* 12 mm wrench
* Flat blade screwdriver

Materials:

* New automatic transmission cable (if necessary)

Adjustment steps:

1. Find the automatic transmission cable. It is located in the engine compartment, attached to the gearbox. The cable should have a plastic sheath.

2. Loosen the 12mm bolt that holds the cable sheath in place. Do not remove the bolt completely.

3. Depress the brake pedal and move the gear shift lever to the Park (P) position.

4. Adjust the cable sheath. Move the sheath towards or away from the engine until the threaded part of the cable comes out about 10-15 mm from the sheath.

5. Tighten the bolt to 12 mm.

6. Make sure that the gear shift lever moves smoothly to all positions.

7. Check the cable for any cuts or damage to the sheath. If necessary, replace the cable.

Notes:

*If you are unsure of the correct adjustment, consult your vehicle’s repair manual or a qualified mechanic.
* An incorrectly adjusted cable may cause shifting problems or damage to the transmission.
* After adjustment, it is recommended to check the fluid level in the gearbox.
