Required tools:

* Wrench set
* Lift or pit

Procedure for adjusting the automatic transmission cable:

1. Park the car (P).

2. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

3. Lift the car on a lift or drive it into a pit.

4. Locate the automatic transmission cable that connects the gearshift lever to the gearbox.

5. Loosen the two bolts that secure the transmission cable housing to the transmission (usually M10 or M12).

6. Make sure the transmission selector is in Park (P).

7. Slide the cable housing forward or backward along the threads to adjust the cable length.

8. Check that the gear shift lever shifts easily to all positions (P, R, N, D, 2, 1).

9. Tighten the two bolts securing the cable housing to the transmission.

10. Connect the negative terminal of the battery.

11. Start the engine and change gears to ensure that the transmission operates correctly without slipping or harsh shocks.

Notes:

* If the automatic transmission cable is too tight, gears may be difficult to shift or may not engage.
* If the automatic transmission cable is too loose, the gears may not engage completely or may fail.
* Adjusting the automatic transmission cable may be required after replacing the cable, gearbox or gear shift lever.
