Materials:
* 10 mm wrench
* Pliers
* Ruler or tape measure
Steps:
1. Prepare the vehicle: Apply the parking brake and park the vehicle on a level surface.
2. Locate the shift lever and cable: Look under the hood and locate the shift lever near the transmission. Follow the cable from the lever to the automatic transmission.
3. Locate the adjusting nut: There is usually an adjusting nut at the end of the cable. It can be closed with a plastic cap.
4. Remove the nut cap: Pry up the cap using a screwdriver or pliers.
5. Loosen the lock nut: Use a 10 mm wrench to slightly loosen the lock nut located 3-4 cm from the adjusting nut.
6. Adjust the adjusting nut: Turn the adjusting nut until the correct cable tension is achieved.
7. Check the tension: Insert a straight edge or tape measure into the gap between the ball joint and the eye on the shift lever. The gap should be about 12-15 mm.
8. Tighten the locknut: Tighten the locknut while holding the adjusting nut.
9. Check gear shifting: Start the engine and check that the gears shift correctly.
10. Adjust as necessary: If gear shifting is difficult or jerky, adjust the cable tension.
Adviсe:
* Do not overtighten the adjusting nut as this may damage the cable.
*If you are unsure about the adjustment, ask a mechanic for help.
* It is recommended to periodically check and adjust the tension of the automatic transmission shift cable to ensure smooth and efficient gear shifting.
