Adjusting the automatic transmission cable on a Toyota Corona Premio

Materials:

* 10 mm wrench
* Pliers
* Cable lubricant (optional)

Procedure:

1. Remove the plastic cover around the base of the shift lever. The cover is usually secured with latches or screws.

2. Find the automatic transmission cable. It is connected to the gear lever at one end and to the gearbox at the other.

3. Loosen the locking bolt on the automatic transmission cable. The bolt is usually located at both ends of the cable where it connects to the shift lever and transmission.

4. Move the adjustment slider on the cable. The slider allows you to adjust the length of the cable. Move the slider up or down until the shift lever shifts correctly through all gears.

>Note: If you move the slider too far, the gears may not shift correctly.

5. Tighten the lock bolts. Make sure the bolts are tightened enough to secure the slider position.

6. Check gear shifting. Make sure the gearshift lever shifts smoothly through all gears.

7. Lubricate the automatic transmission cable. If you wish, you can apply a small amount of cable lube to the cable to reduce friction and extend the life of the cable.

8. Replace the plastic cover around the base of the shift lever.
