To access the adjusting bolt of the automatic transmission brake band on a Mazda 3, you must:

1. Loosen the wheel nuts on the side where the automatic transmission is located.
2. Raise the car and place it on supports.
3. Remove the front wheel.
4. Remove the plastic engine protection.

Adjusting the Adjustment Bolt

1. Locate the adjustment bolt. It is usually located either on the transmission housing or on the oil pan.
2. Determine the direction of movement of the bolt: usually counterclockwise to tighten the band and clockwise to loosen it.
3. Using a socket wrench or socket with an extension, rotate the adjusting bolt 1/8 to 1/4 turns.
4. Rotate the wheel by hand to check if the noise or vibration is reduced.
5. Repeat steps 3-4 until the noise or vibration disappears.

Note:

* Caution: Avoid over-tightening the adjustment bolt as this may damage the belt or other components.
* It is recommended to check and adjust the automatic transmission brake band adjusting bolt every 50,000-60,000 km or when noise or vibration occurs.
*If you do not have experience with automatic transmissions, it is best to have a qualified mechanic perform this procedure.
