Location of the adjusting bolt of the Mazda Familia automatic transmission

1. Remove the transmission cover:

* Remove the bolts securing the cover to the transmission housing.
* Lift the cover and remove it from the gasket.

2. Find the cable adjustment bolt:

* There is a bolt with a lock nut on the gear shift lever side of the transmission housing.
* This bolt adjusts the tension of the shift cable that connects the shift lever to the transmission control valve.

3. Identify the bolt:

*The cable adjustment bolt usually has a 10mm or 12mm head.
* It is located next to the gear shift lever and has a lock nut.

Adjustment Instructions:

1. Loosen the locknut:

*Using the appropriate size wrench, loosen the locknut on the cable adjustment bolt.

2. Adjust the bolt:

*Depending on the type of transmission (automatic or manual), the direction of adjustment will be different.
*For manual transmission: Tighten the bolt to tighten the cable and improve shifting.
* For automatic transmission: loosen the bolt to reduce cable tension and improve shifting.

3. Check the cable tension:

* Connect the cable to the gear shift lever and transmission control valve.
* Change gears and ensure smooth and precise shifting.

4. Tighten the locknut:

* Once the cable tension has been adjusted, re-tighten the locknut to secure the adjustment.

5. Reinstall the transmission cover:

* Place a new gasket on the transmission housing and replace the cover.
* Tighten the cover bolts.

Note:

*If you do not have experience adjusting the automatic transmission cable, it is recommended that you contact a qualified mechanic.
* The adjustment should not be too tight or too loose, as this may cause shifting problems.
