Adaptation of the transmission (DSG) Volkswagen Tiguan

Transmission adaptation is necessary to adjust the operation of the transmission in accordance with individual driving style and operating conditions. This ensures optimal gear shifting and smooth vehicle movement.

Adaptation procedure:

1. Preparation:

* Warm up the engine and transmission to operating temperature.
* Place the car on a flat surface.
* Move the gear selector to ‘P’ position.

2. Diagnostic mode:

* Turn on the ignition without starting the engine.
* Press and hold the brake pedal.
* Move the gear selector to the following position (may vary for different models):

* Tiguan 2008-2011: R, N, D, R, N
* Tiguan 2012-2017: D, R, N, D, R, N
* Tiguan with DSG7: P, R, N, D, S, M, S, D, N

3. Clutch adaptation:

* After entering diagnostic mode, release the brake pedal and wait 20 seconds.
* Press and hold the accelerator pedal until the indicator light on the instrument panel begins to flash (usually 10-15 seconds).
* Release the accelerator pedal and wait 10 seconds.

4. Adaptation by gear ratios:

*Press the accelerator pedal again and hold it until the indicator on the instrument panel stops flashing (this usually takes 8-10 seconds).
* Release the accelerator pedal.

5. Completion:

* Move the gear selector to position ‘P’ and turn off the ignition.
*Wait until the car has cooled down completely.

Note:

*The onboarding process may take up to 15 minutes.
* It is recommended to perform adaptation after repair or replacement of transmission components, as well as after a long period of inactivity of the vehicle.
* If any gear shifting problems occur after adaptation, please contact an authorized Volkswagen dealer for further diagnosis.
