Mazda CX-5 gearbox adaptation
Transmission adaptation is the process by which the transmission control system is tuned to a specific vehicle and driving style. This optimizes gear shifting, improving smoothness and fuel efficiency.
When is gearbox adaptation required?
* After repair or replacement of the gearbox
* After changing the automatic transmission oil
*After making changes to vehicle settings such as suspension or wheels
*If the vehicle exhibits shifting problems such as hard or delayed shifts
Adaptation process
The adaptation process may vary depending on the year and model of the vehicle. Typically the following steps are followed:
1. Warm up the engine and gearbox. Drive a few kilometers until the operating temperature of both units reaches normal levels.
2. Find a safe and open place. You will need to go through several acceleration and deceleration cycles.
3. Acceleration. Accelerate to a speed of about 80 km/h, and then gently release the accelerator pedal.
4. Slow down. Allow the vehicle to gradually slow down to a stop using engine braking.
5. Repeat. Repeat steps 3 and 4 4-5 more times.
6. Stop and wait. Stop the car and put the parking brake on. Wait 10-15 minutes without turning off the engine.
7. Check. Turn off the engine and start it again. Shift the gear selector to all positions (P, R, N, D, S) and return to position P.
Note: Some Mazda models may have a special adaptation procedure that requires a scan tool. Consult your vehicle’s owner’s manual or dealer for details.
Important:
* Do not press the accelerator pedal sharply while accelerating.
* Smoothly release the accelerator pedal while decelerating.
* Do not turn off the engine during the adaptation process.
