Adaptation of the Opel Astra J automatic transmission
Automatic transmission (AT) adaptation is the process of calibrating its controls to ensure optimal performance. It includes the following steps:
Required tools:
* Diagnostic scanner (Opel compatible)
* Voltage tester
Process:
1. Connect the diagnostic scanner: Connect the scanner to the vehicle’s diagnostic connector.
2. Start the engine: Start the engine and let it idle.
3. Disconnect the battery: Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery. Leave it unplugged for 30 minutes.
4. Connect the battery: Connect the negative terminal of the battery.
5. Reset automatic transmission adaptations: Using a scanner, select the appropriate automatic transmission module and execute the ‘Reset adaptations’ command.
6. Verify the reset: Stop the engine and wait a few minutes. Start the engine and check if the error disappears.
7. Complete on-the-go adaptation: Follow these steps to complete on-the-go adaptation:
* Drive the car at a speed of 30-50 km/h on a flat road for 10 minutes.
* Accelerate and decelerate smoothly.
* Switch between D and S modes.
*Pause for a few minutes.
8. Re-check the adaptations: Reconnect the scanner and make sure that the automatic transmission adaptations are completed successfully.
Notes:
*Don’t skip the step of disconnecting the battery. This is necessary to reset the automatic transmission memory.
* Adaptation may take up to 200 km, depending on operating conditions.
* If adaptation is not complete or an error occurs, contact a qualified mechanic.
* Regular adaptation of the automatic transmission can improve its performance and extend its service life.
