Automatic transmission adaptation after oil change on Mazda CX-5
Required tools:
* OBD-II scanner or self-diagnosis software
Adaptation procedure:
1. Start the engine and warm it up to operating temperature.
2. Switch the gear selector to ‘P’ position.
3. Connect the OBD-II scanner or run the self-diagnosis software.
4. Select the ‘Automatic transmission adaptation’ function or similar.
5. Follow the instructions on the scanner display or software.
6. Perform the following gear shift sequence:
* P -> R (hold for 5 seconds)
* R -> N (hold for 5 seconds)
* N -> D (hold for 5 seconds)
* D -> 2 (hold for 5 seconds)
* 2 -> 3 (hold for 5 seconds)
* 3 -> 4 (hold for 5 seconds)
* 4 -> 5 (hold for 5 seconds)
7. After completing the shift sequence, reset the automatic transmission adaptation data.
8. Turn off the engine and wait 10-15 minutes.
9. Start the engine and check the operation of the automatic transmission.
Notes:
* Make sure that the automatic transmission oil complies with the manufacturer’s recommendations.
* Allow the transmission to cool before checking the oil level.
* If the adaptation procedure is not performed correctly, it may cause shifting problems and reduced performance.
* It is recommended that you contact a qualified mechanic if you have any difficulty completing this procedure.
