Adaptation of Passat B6 automatic transmission using VCDS (VAG-COM)
Materials:
*VCDS cable (VAG-COM)
* Laptop or computer with VCDS software installed
Instructions:
1. Connect the VCDS cable to the OBD2 diagnostic connector. The connector is usually located under the steering column.
2. Launch VCDS software.
3. Select ‘Controller’ -> ‘Automatic Transmission’ -> ‘Read Identification Information’
4. Write down the automatic transmission identification number (for example, 01J).
5. Select ‘Controller’ -> ‘Automatic Transmission’ -> ‘Basic Settings’ (automatic transmission identification number)
6. Select Group 060.
7. Start the engine and warm up the automatic transmission to operating temperature.
8. Click on the ‘Activate’ button.
9. The adaptation will take place within a few minutes.
10. Once adaptation is complete, click on the ‘Reset’ button.
Additional notes:
* Adaptation time may vary depending on the type of automatic transmission.
* It is recommended to drive the car after adaptation so that the automatic transmission can adapt to the new settings.
* If any problems occur during the adaptation process, please check the VCDS cable connection and battery condition.
Fault codes:
*If trouble codes appear during adaptation, write them down and look up their meanings in the VCDS diagnostic documentation or online sources.
