How to check the oil level in an Acura MDX automatic transmission

Requirements:

* The engine must be warmed up to operating temperature.
* The vehicle must be parked on a level surface.
* The gear shift lever must be in the «Park» position.

Tools:

*Clean rag or paper towel

Instructions:

1. Find the automatic transmission oil level dipstick. It is usually located in the engine compartment, attached to or near the transmission. The dipstick will be marked «Transmission oil» or «Automatic transmission».

2. Pull out the dipstick and wipe it with a clean rag or paper towel.

3. Reinsert the dipstick into the tube and pull it out.

4. Check the oil level at the end of the dipstick. There will be two marks on the dipstick: “Hot” and “Cold”.

* Hot: Check the oil level when the engine is warm and the transmission is running. The oil level should be between the «Hot» and «Cold» marks.
* Cold: Check the oil level when the engine is cold and the transmission is not running. The oil level should be above the «Cold» mark.

5. If the oil level is low, add it. Use only genuine Acura transmission oil. Do not add too much oil.

6. Reinsert the dipstick and check the oil level. Repeat steps 2-5 until the oil level is in the desired range.

Note:

* Check the automatic transmission oil level on a regular basis.
*If you notice an unusual change in oil level, contact a certified mechanic.
* Do not use fluids not intended for automatic transmissions.
