2007 Accent Automatic Transmission
The 2007 Accent automatic transmission (AT) has four forward gears and one reverse gear.
Gearbox control
The gearbox is controlled by the gear lever, which is located on the center console.
Switching modes
The gear shift lever has the following positions:
* P (Parking) — locks the wheels when the car is parked.
* R (Reverse) — engages reverse gear.
* N (Neutral) — disconnects the engine from the wheels.
* D (Drive) — the main gear for most operating conditions.
* 2 — forcibly engages second gear for better acceleration on hilly terrain.
* 1 — forcibly engages first gear for off-road driving or on steep slopes.
Gear mode selector
Next to the gear shift lever there is a gear mode selector. The selector allows you to select different gear shift modes that affect the operation of the gearbox:
* Normal (N) is a normal shift mode that provides a smooth transition between gears.
*Sport (S) is a sportier shift mode that delays upshifts for sharper acceleration.
Gear position indicator
The gear position indicator shows the current position of the gear lever on the instrument panel.
