Gear shift knob (selector)

P – Parking
* Locks the transmission and holds the car in place.

R – Reverse (reverse)
* Shifts the transmission into reverse.

N – Neutral (neutral)
* Turns off transmission. The engine may run, but the car will not move.

D – Drive (movement)
* Main gear for forward movement.

Numbers (1, 2, 3, etc.)

* Indicates a specific forward gear.
* The number indicates which gear is engaged.
*Lower numbers indicate lower gears, which provide more torque and traction.
*Higher numbers indicate higher gears, which provide higher speeds and better fuel economy.

Other designations

* L – Low: Provides maximum torque for climbing or towing.
* S – Sport (Sport Mode): Optimizes gear shifting for faster responses and better performance.
* M – Manual: Allows the driver to manually change gears, as in a manual transmission.
