Automatic transmission filter for Mitsubishi Diamante

Recommended replacement interval:

* With each transmission fluid (ATF) change, usually every 60,000 – 90,000 km.

Filter location:

The automatic transmission filter is located inside the automatic transmission pan.

Tools required to replace the filter:

* 10 mm hex key
* New automatic transmission pan and gasket (if necessary)
* Rags
* ATF drain bath

Replacement procedure:

1. Turn off the engine and park the car.
2. Raise the car on a lift or using a jack and stands.
3. Locate the automatic transmission pan under the car.
4. Clean the area around the drain plug.
5. Install an ATF drain pan under the drain plug.
6. Loosen and remove the drain plug to drain the ATF into the tank.
7. After draining the ATF, clean the drain plug and reinstall it.
8. Loosen and remove the automatic transmission pan mounting bolts.
9. Carefully remove the pan and remove the old filter.
10. Install a new filter in the automatic transmission pan.
11. Reinstall the tray and secure it with bolts.
12. Tighten the drain plug.
13. Add new ATF to the automatic transmission through the filling tube.
14. Start the engine and shift it into each gear to circulate ATF.
15. Check the ATF level and add if necessary.
16. Reset the automatic transmission adaptation counter using a scanner.
