What is included in the automatic transmission filter replacement kit:

* Oil filter
* Pan gasket
* Sometimes bolts for draining oil and tightening the pan plug

Tools and materials needed for replacement:

* Key for unscrewing the drain plug and pan bolts
* Funnel for filling oil
* Container for draining old oil
* New pan gasket
* New automatic transmission oil filter
* Fresh automatic transmission oil (it is recommended to use original Mopar ATF+4 oil or its equivalent)

Replacement procedure:

1. Raise Grand Cherokee on a lift or place it on level ground.
2. Determine the location of the automatic transmission pan.
3. Drain the oil from the automatic transmission through the drain plug.
4. Unscrew the bolts and remove the automatic transmission pan.
5. Replace the automatic transmission oil filter.
6. Install a new pan gasket and tighten the pan bolts according to the diagram.
7. Fill in fresh automatic transmission oil through the dipstick hole.
8. Check the oil level and add if necessary.
9. Start the engine and shift through all gears to pump oil through the system.
10. Check the oil level on a warm engine and add if necessary.
