The automatic transmission speed sensor (transmission speed sensor) is responsible for the following functions:

* Shift Control: The sensor measures the speed of rotation of the automatic transmission output shaft and transmits this information to the transmission control unit (TCU). The TCU uses this information to select the optimal gear based on current speed and load conditions.
* Transmission Control: The sensor also provides the TCU with information about the rotational speed of the engine and the automatic transmission input shaft. This data is used to control torque converter lock-up and torque delivery modes, ensuring smooth and efficient gear changes.
*Signals for the speedometer: In some cars, the automatic transmission speed sensor also transmits a speed signal to the speedometer. This allows the speedometer to display the exact speed of the vehicle.
* Diagnostics: The TCU uses input data from the transmission speed sensor to diagnose faults and problems with the transmission.
