Replacement of automatic transmission speed sensor for Toyota Camry XV40
Part code: 24253028
Required tools:
* Set of socket wrenches
* 3mm hex key
* Penetrating oil
Replacement procedure:
1. Safety first. Park the vehicle on a level surface, apply the parking brake and disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
2. Find the automatic transmission speed sensor. It is located on the rear of the transmission, next to the selector cable.
3. Disconnect the sensor connector. Press the latch and pull the connector straight up.
4. Unscrew the sensor mounting bolt. Use a 10mm socket wrench to remove the bolt holding the sensor to the transmission.
5. Pull the sensor out of the gearbox. Gently pull the sensor connector to remove it from the transmission housing.
6. Clean the sensor seat. Use a clean rag or compressed air to remove any accumulated dirt or debris from the sensor seat on the transmission.
7. Install a new sensor. Lubricate the sensor O-ring with fresh transmission oil. Install the sensor into the gearbox housing and tighten the mounting bolt by hand.
8. Tighten the mounting bolt. Use a torque wrench to tighten the bolt to 14 Nm.
9. Connect the sensor connector. Press the connector until it clicks into place.
10. Connect the negative terminal of the battery.
11. Reset the fault code (if necessary). If there is a trouble code on your dashboard, use an OBD2 scanner to reset it.
12. Start the engine and check the operation of the sensor. Drive the vehicle to ensure that the automatic transmission speed sensor is working correctly.
Precautions:
* The automatic transmission speed sensor is sensitive to cleanliness. Make sure all parts are clean and free of dirt.
* Do not overtighten the sensor mounting bolt. This may damage the sensor or transmission housing.
* If you are not confident in your abilities, have the sensor replaced by a professional mechanic.
