When towing a vehicle with an automatic transmission, follow these instructions:
For front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive vehicles:
*Place the gear selector in Park (P).
* Make sure the wheels are aligned straight ahead.
* Turn the key to the “Ignition on” position (II).
* Release the parking brake.
* Press and hold the brake pedal.
* Move the gear selector to the Neutral (N) position.
* Release the brake pedal.
* Start the engine.
* Tow the vehicle at a speed of no more than 50 km/h and for a distance of no more than 50 km.
For rear wheel drive vehicles:
* Place the gear selector in the Neutral (N) position.
* Make sure the wheels are aligned straight ahead.
* Release the parking brake.
* Start the engine.
* Tow the vehicle at a speed of no more than 50 km/h and for a distance of no more than 50 km.
General recommendations:
* Use a tow rope that is rated to support the weight of the vehicle being towed.
* Make sure the tow rope is securely attached to both vehicles.
* When towing, do not make sudden jerks or stops.
* The driver of the towed vehicle must ensure that the steering wheel is not blocked.
* After towing, move the gear selector to Park (P), set the parking brake, and turn off the engine.
Attention:
* Towing an automatic transmission vehicle at an excessive speed or distance can cause serious damage to the transmission.
*When towing long distances or at high speeds, it is recommended to use a truck trailer.
