Transmission filter (transmission oil)

Replacement frequency:

* For normal operating conditions: every 40,000 – 50,000 km or 2 years
* For severe operating conditions (towing, frequent short-distance travel): every 20,000 – 30,000 km or 1 year

Filter type:

* Replaceable (external) filter located in the transmission pan

Required tools and materials:

* New transmission filter
*Transmission pan gasket (recommended)
* Gear oil (type specified in the vehicle’s owner’s manual)
* Funnel
*Cleaning cloth
* Wrenches or ratchet screwdriver

Replacement procedure:

1. Prepare the vehicle for replacement by placing it on a level surface and applying the parking brake.
2. Allow the transmission oil to cool.
3. Locate the transmission pan and clean the area around it.
4. Unscrew the transmission pan drain plug and drain the oil into a clean container.
5. Remove the nuts or bolts securing the transmission pan.
6. Carefully remove the transmission pan to avoid spilling any remaining oil.
7. Remove the old transmission filter from the pan.
8. Clean the transmission pan and install a new filter.
9. Install a new transmission pan gasket (if required).
10. Install the transmission pan and tighten its bolts or nuts.
11. Fill the gearbox with fresh gear oil.
12. Check the fluid level and add if necessary.
13. Start the engine and warm up the car.
14. Shift the gear selector to each position and return to the park position.
15. Check the fluid level again and add if necessary.
