Toyota Fielder automatic transmission pan gasket
Description:
The transmission pan gasket is a seal installed between the transmission pan and the transmission housing. It prevents transmission fluid (ATF) from leaking.
Wear symptoms:
* Transmission fluid leaks
* Burnt oil smell
* Slipping or jerking when shifting gears
Replacing the automatic transmission pan gasket:
To replace the automatic transmission pan gasket, the following tools and materials are required:
* Set of keys or sockets
* Flat head screwdriver
* Transmission fluid
* New automatic transmission pan gasket
Replacement instructions:
1. Draining transmission fluid:
* Place the car on a flat surface.
* Open the hood and locate the transmission fluid level dipstick.
* Remove the dipstick and drain the transmission fluid into a clean container.
2. Removing the automatic transmission pan:
* Locate the automatic transmission pan under the car.
* Unscrew the bolts that secure the pan.
* Carefully remove the pan from the automatic transmission housing.
3. Replacing the gasket:
* Clean the surfaces of the pan and the automatic transmission housing from the remnants of the old gasket.
* Install a new gasket on the pan.
4. Installing the automatic transmission pan:
* Install the pan on the automatic transmission housing.
* Tighten the bolts in the order specified in the repair manual.
5. Filling transmission fluid:
* Pour transmission fluid into the automatic transmission through the dipstick hole.
* Check the fluid level on the dipstick and add if necessary.
6. Leak check:
* Start the engine and let it idle.
* Check for leaks under the car.
* Shift all gears and check for any slipping or jerking.
Note:
* It is recommended to drain and replace the transmission fluid every time you replace the automatic transmission pan gasket.
*Make sure the new gasket is installed correctly to prevent leaks.
*Tighten the pan bolts to the recommended torque to avoid overtightening or undertightening.
