Symptoms of a faulty automatic transmission flywheel:

Vibrations:

* Strong vibrations at idle or when accelerating
* Vibrations are felt through the steering wheel, floor or seats

Noise:

*Loud grinding or rattling sound when starting engine
* The sound increases as the engine speed increases

Startup problems:

* Difficulty starting the engine
* Engine stalls after starting

Power reduction:

*Loss of power when accelerating
* Deterioration in fuel economy

Burning smell:

* Burnt clutch smell

Engine slipping or vibration:

* The flywheel may slip, causing engine slippage or vibration

Other possible symptoms:

* Noises when shifting gears
*Transmission fluid leak
* Gear shift delay
* Knocks or jolts when shifting gears
