Gear shifts in an automatic transmission Volkswagen Polo
Switching to Parking Mode (P)
*Press the brake pedal.
* Move the gear shift lever to the “P” position.
* Turn off the ignition.
Switching to reverse (R)
*Press the brake pedal.
*Press the shift release button on the shift lever.
* Move the gear lever to the “R” position.
Shifting to Neutral (N)
*Press the brake pedal.
* Move the gear lever to the “N” position.
Switching to Drive mode (D)
*Press the brake pedal.
* Move the gear shift lever to the “D” position.
* Release the brake pedal and the car will start moving.
Switching to sport mode (S)
* Move the gear shift lever to the left to the “S” position.
* The car will shift to higher gears at higher engine speeds.
Switching to manual mode (Tiptronic)
* Move the gear lever to the right to the “Tiptronic” position.
* To shift up, press the “+” symbol on the gear lever.
* To shift downwards, press the “-” symbol on the gear shift lever.
Return to Drive (D) mode from manual mode
* Move the gear shift lever to the right to the “D” position.
* The car will return to automatic gear shifting.
Peculiarities:
*Under certain conditions, gear shifts may be locked to protect the transmission.
* Holding the vehicle in “D” or “R” gear for a long time while the vehicle is stationary is not recommended, as this may lead to overheating of the transmission.
* Be careful when changing gears on slippery roads, as sudden shifts may cause the vehicle to lose traction and skid.
